More to Meat in Wodonga

Wodonga Rendering – a local red meat processor – has been part of the community for over 40 years, and the business plays an essential role in supporting the local economy and jobs.

The company directly employs 460 people, including general labourers, meat slicers, tradies, and science-related jobs.

Working closely with farmers, Wodonga Rendering processes, packages, and helps to deliver world-class red meat to stores across Australia, which eventually lands on family dinner tables.

Wodonga Rendering joined the Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC), to promote the opportunities in red meat processing.

One of the local employees recognised in the More to Meat campaign is Jean, a Quality Assurance Officer at the Wodonga processing plant.

Originally starting in meat production, Jean took every opportunity to upskill, which enabled her to take on her current role working as a QA in the laboratory.

Jean is grateful for the training courses offered to employees. It has helped her to gain professional skills and try new areas of the business.

Jean is an example of how many employees in red meat processing rise through the ranks, upskill and earn more money as they continue to work in the industry.

Whether you’re interested in starting your career in the industry, or simply enjoying our delicious red meat products at home, supporting Australia’s red meat processing industry will help to create careers for the next generation, and help to keep regional communities strong.
