Australian red meat fuels our Olympic athletes
The red meat processing industry is stepping up to help fuel Aussie athletes chasing their dreams of winning gold at the Paris Olympics.
Thomas Foods International (TFI), a family-owned red meat processing business, has announced it will donate South Australian lamb and beef to the national team.
The donation means around 75 athletes and staff will be supplied with world-class red meat for the five weeks in the lead-up to the games.
Thomas Foods International Managing Director, Darren Thomas, said, “Our family company is proud to be providing the best-quality Australian meat to these exceptional Australian athletes.”
All the meat supplied will be prepared by Adelaide chef, Chris Jarmer, who will look after the dietary needs of all the participating athletes and staff.
It is expected that over 100kg of world-class red meat will be supplied.
Mr Jarmer said the current menu includes slow-roasted porterhouse steak, American-style grill, and his signature Thai black pepper dish.
The support given to our athletes is a reminder of how much our industry contributes to our country.
Not only do red meat processors play an essential role to package and produce high-quality beef and lamb for us to enjoy, the industry also supports tens-of-thousands of people in jobs around the country.
How good is that!
