The new face of the red meat processing industry
Meet Nikita Ellison, a 24-year-old Sustainability Coordinator at Nolan Meats in Gympie who has pursued her dream career in red meat processing.
Nikita loves the fast-paced working environment and flexibility offered by Nolan Meats which allowed her to complete her Bachelor of Agriculture Business and Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture whilst working her dream job.
The red meat processing industry has supported Nikita to develop new skills and even positioned her to purchase her first home!
Now, Nikita is sharing her story as part of the More to Meat campaign to highlight the university graduate opportunities in red meat processing in Queensland and across Australia.
Red meat processing facilities are powered by hundreds of employees to produce high-quality red meat products, like delicious steaks and beef mince, but the modern industry requires a broad range of skills, including science, engineering, and trades.
“Working in red meat processing is one of the best things I’ve decided to do with my life, and I will always tell anyone to give this industry a go,” said Ms Ellison.
“Red meat processing has allowed me to study and work full-time, purchase my first house, and find a career in a field I am passionate about.”
“There is an idea that there aren’t available jobs in the agriculture sector, but there are several positions available for every agriculture graduate, and there are so many opportunities in red processing,” said Ms Ellison.
Employees like Nikita represent the exciting opportunity available in the red meat industry.
The More to Meat campaign will continue to profile employees like Nikita who embody the heart and soul of the red meat processing industry and its contribution to regional towns and cities.
