The Australia Day BBQ Made Possible by Red Meat Processing

Few things say Australia Day like lamb on the barbecue.

What better way to enjoy a national holiday then sharing Aussie produce with your friends and family.

What many Aussies might not realise is the important role meat processers play in producing high-quality meat for the nation for all to enjoy.

The demand for long-term red meat processing jobs across Australia is continuously growing along with the demand for Australian lamb.

The More to Meat campaign is promoting how meat is more than just a staple of the national diet, but a critical supporter of regional communities.

The red meat processing industry employs over 138,000 Australians, contributing more than $7.6 billion to household incomes across the country.

Jason McPhail, CEO of Minerva Foods Australia, said it is how Australian red meat arrives on dining room tables that makes it better than other red meat products globally.

“Australian red meat processors work closely with farmers to deliver a product that is renowned globally for its high-quality.”

“The process requires a large local supply chain which includes tradies, truck drivers and retailers to deliver red meat to dinner tables. We should all be proud of that.”

Australia’s love affair with red meat supports jobs all across Australia from farming to trucking, helping to generate $21 billion of economic activity each year.

AMPC’s CEO Chris Taylor believes there are more opportunities in the red meat processing industry than is widely understood.

“The industry is proud of being a part of regional Australia and knowing our work helps people come together at times like Australia Day makes it even better.”
